6 lessons I learned as a solopreneur
As a solopreneur, I've had my fair share of ups and downs especially during my 20s.
Looking back, there are a few key lessons I wish I had learned earlier on.
And I don’t want you to make the same mistakes starting out.
Here are 6 insights that have shaped my journey:
1. Diversify Your Traffic Sources
Relying on a single traffic source is a recipe for disaster.
I learned this the hard way when an algorithm update wiped out my website traffic overnight.
Now, I make sure to spread my bets across different channels - social media, email, search, and more.
2. Higher Prices, Fewer Sales
It's much easier to hit big revenue goals by selling high ticket products or services.
Charging $2,000 for your expertise is a lot more efficient than trying to sell 100 units at $20 each.
In most cases, it takes the same amount of effort to reach the same goal.
BUT..if the $20 is recurring every month, then it is worth promoting.
The key is finding a clear, painful problem that your offering solves.
3. Compounding Gains Take Time
Success online doesn't happen overnight.
In the beginning, the progress can feel painfully slow.
But trust the process because those small, incremental improvements will add up over time.
Quitting too soon is the biggest mistake you can make.
Be persistent and consistent.
Speaking of consistency, staying informed is crucial for any entrepreneur.
So if you’re..

4. Design Your Ideal Lifestyle
When building a solopreneur business, it's essential to reverse-engineer the lifestyle you want.
For me, that means passive income streams, flexibility, and minimal client work.
Your priorities may be different, but be intentional about aligning your business model with your desired way of living.
Trust me, you don’t want to regret getting into a business that doesn’t suit you.
5. Shiny Object Syndrome
It's easy to get distracted by the latest marketing tactics or "get-rich-quick" schemes.
Trust me, even after years in the game, I still feel it..
While it's good to stay on top of trends, and capitalize on them..
Don't let them pull you away from your core strategy.
Stick to what's working, and build on that foundation.
6. Owned Platforms are Key
You need to grow your audience on platforms you don't own, like social media.
However, it's crucial to then move them to an "owned" channel..
..like email or a private community on Skool,Telegram or Discord.
That way, you maintain control of your audience if the external platforms change.
The solopreneur path is full of twists and turns.
Just by learning from other's experiences, you can fast-track your own growth and build the freedom-filled business you've been dreaming of.
If you’re on the same path, share with me your experiences..
What are the lessons you have learned along the way?
Sincerely,
Jayce
